Replace your poker league spreadsheet
Excel and Google Sheets are where most poker leagues start. Poker League keeps what works — your points system, your buy-ins, your history — and does the rest: points, prizes and standings work themselves out the moment the last player is knocked out, and every player sees them on their phone.

Why leagues outgrow the spreadsheet
Almost every poker league starts in Excel or Google Sheets — ours did, for more than 15 years. A spreadsheet is free, flexible and yours. But it depends on one person typing in every result, the formulas break when the field size changes, and nobody else sees the standings until that person posts a screenshot.
- Points by hand: a different points row for every field size, looked up after midnight.
- One person does all the work, and the league stops when they are away.
- Rebuys and add-ons are tally marks on paper, and the prize pool is a calculator and an argument.
- No clock: a separate app on a phone, and someone has to remember to raise the blinds.
- History is buried in tabs: who won the most, the longest streak, who knocks out whom — nobody knows.
- The end-of-season final is another sheet, built by hand from the standings.

Keep your points table — drop the formulas
Poker League starts with a tested points table that gives more points for bigger fields. If your league already has its own system, type it in: every value can be changed for every field size from 2 to 100 players, or you can switch to a formula.
| Players | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 14 | 10 | 7 | 4 | 2 | 1 | ||||
| 8 | 18 | 14 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 1 | ||
| 10 | 25 | 18 | 15 | 12 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 1 |
Moving your league from a spreadsheet
- Create the league and a season. Points, prizes and blind structures come pre-set.
- Copy your points table and your buy-in, rebuy and add-on amounts from the spreadsheet.
- Invite your players by e-mail; they get a profile and register for tournaments from their phone.
- Run your next night on the TV clock. When the last player is out, points, prizes and standings update on their own.
- Keep the old spreadsheet as the archive of past seasons; Poker League keeps every result from here on.
Prize payouts without the calculator
The prize pool is every buy-in, rebuy and add-on, split by the number of entries. The TV shows the payouts as the field shrinks, or you can use your league's own fixed percentages.
| Entries (players + rebuys) | Places paid | Split of the prize pool |
|---|---|---|
| 4–8 | 2 | 1st 66% · 2nd 34% |
| 9–12 | 3 | 1st 53% · 2nd 28% · 3rd 19% |
| 13–16 | 4 | 1st 47% · 2nd 24% · 3rd 16% · 4th 13% |
| 17–20 | 5 | 1st 43% · 2nd 22% · 3rd 15% · 4th 11% · 5th 9% |
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free poker league spreadsheet template?
A spreadsheet works for a fixed group, but it needs a points row per field size and someone to fill it in. Poker League does the same job for free for up to 6 players, with the clock and live standings included.
Can I keep my own points system?
Yes. Every value of the points table can be changed for every field size from 2 to 100 players, or you can use a formula instead.
Can I import my spreadsheet?
Not automatically. Start your next season in Poker League and keep the spreadsheet as the archive of past seasons.
Can I still get my data out?
Yes. Season finances export to CSV, and results, standings and records stay available in the league for as long as it exists.
Do my players need an app?
No. Poker League runs in the browser on phones, computers and smart TVs. Players get an e-mail invite and open the league like a website.
